Proclaimed top Democrat returns controversial campaign check after a story breaks here on 1380 KTKZ.

Democrat Congressional Candidate Dr. Ami Bera announced that he returned a campaign contribution of $250 from Sacramento Executive Director Basim Elkarra of the Council of American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).

The Sacramento Bee was the first to report today; third congressional candidate Dr. Ami Bera returned a $250 campaign contribution from an official with the CAIR because of the group’s alleged ties to Hamas. The Elk Grove Democrat, who is trying to unseat Republican Rep. Dan Lungren returned the money today.

Was today’s news surrounding the Mosque at Ground Zero too much for Bera to handle?

At first Sacramento City Hall afforded a permit for the recall rally Tuesday afternoon at 2PM, then mysteriously ‘pulled the permit’ after a reported city attorney researched a 2005 city resolution that allegedly does not permit ‘events’ until after 5PM on weekdays.

After shredding the permit, Sacramento City Hall eventually released six pages of a resolution entitled “Event Planning Resolution.”

After reading the provided paperwork from the Sacramento’s City Council, the referenced ‘events rules’ are best described as weddings, private parties, educational tours or any other pre-scheduled ‘event’ that offers the use of the actual facilities for a gathering.

It is safe to say that an “event” is not the same as a citizen’s rally.

Thus (using legal speak) the resolution says nothing about consequential speech rallies (1st Amendment) that attempt to hold our city council accountable. And it seems there have been numerous – as in too many to count – rallies permitted (without a permit) before 5PM at the new City Hall Plaza.

Oops.

Sacramento City Council's sanctions of Arizona over SB1070 has caused a huge push-back ... recalls are underway tonight ...

Sacramento City Hall played host to 173 citizens (actual count) last Thursday afternoon.

The efforts of Recall Sacramento launched its effort to remove city council members who are more concerned about Arizona’s immigration law than they are over their own $43 million debt.

With the help of outrage, a single recall website, one local talk show and a grassroots congressional candidate who is determined to represent his district, and the citizens who go under represented within the proper City of Sacramento, the successful recall rally was orchestrated in just five days.

When the media harps on “Meg’s Millions” and “Carly’s Cash” ad nauseum they are trying to hide the real story line of the Republican Primary.

It’s a cover-up folks.

And the lead story is not (just) that two women are heading up the top of the ticket for the GOP in California – which is history.

The real story line remains buried.

What happened on Tuesday night is historic, especially for the Republican Party and the voters of California.

But do yourself a favor and look past the publum and see the real fear of the California Democrat Party.

The Republican ballot for November is greatly diversified – probably the most diversified ballot in the history of the state and definitely for the Grand Ole Party.

HOGUE'S JUNE PRIMARY BALLOT

Prop 13 – Yes

Is anyone against this proposition?

Prop 14 – No

I like the American League and the National League separate, I have grown to hate inter-league play. Why would I enjoy watching a San Francisco versus Oakland A’s World Series when they have already played ten times that season? Give me the purity of baseball and the power of the two party system.

Prop 15 – No

Money is speech; tell the unions and the majority party to stop their whining.

Prop 16 – Yes

Full disclosure, I have Roseville Electric. But my interviews with the PG&E folks have convinced me that votes from utility dependent citizens are much better than decisions by government when it comes to rates, fees and competition. If we grow unsatisfied, voters – we’ll have to gain the super-majority to welcome in competition. (I am concerned that PG&E has contributed $38 million for “votes and competition”)

 Prop 17 – Yes

I don’t plan on dropping my auto insurance anytime soon, and if I do – or bad happens and I fall prey to economical factors that lead to the loss of such – I would expect to pay a penalty. I’ll take my discount to go please. (Again, Mercury has contributed over $14 million for “competition.”)

Republican Party Chairman Michael Steele speaks to the Latino Coalition Economic Summit.

What follows is his speech and references toward a secure border, a guest worker program and a legal – penalty supported – process to naturalize the 10 million illegal immigrant workers in the United States.

I’ve bold-ed some remarks for your attention and added a few opinions within parentheses throughout the speech.

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

There’s nothing more unifying for Mexico and the USA than a holiday that commemorates the defeat of France. That’s what I call cross-border relations.

Ronald Reagan got it right when he said, God must have placed this land here between the oceans to be found by a certain kind of people: “that whatever corner of the world they came from, they had the courage – and the desire for freedom that went with it – to uproot themselves and come to this strange land.” (No mention of legal status versus illegal status.)

SB 1070 is without a doubt a divisive piece of legislation. After reading several opinions and analyses I am more inclined to support the law and the state of Arizona’s efforts to limit illegal immigration within its borders, but what concerns me even more is the way the media supports the opposition to this law and the methods of the opposition.

The Tea Party Movement is vilified and ridiculed in the media as a bunch ignorant white people opposed to anything and everything that Obama supports. The truth though is that the Tea Party Movement is organized with rally’s that draw attention to the problems that arise when the federal government continues to expand its role in the lives of all Americans. For the most part, and I stress most part, Tea Partiers refrain from ad hominem attacks and stick to the key messages that we are taxed too much and do not want to support those that would rather opt for a free ride from the government than work. Most importantly though, Tea Partiers do not resort to threats and vandalism to convey their message.

What Congress doesn’t want you to know about this land grab!

The U.S. would transform, overnight, into a bilingual nation. At least half of Puerto Ricans do not speak English, the language of our U.S. Constitution and founding documents.  From the  Washington Times article.

“Puerto Rican statehood,” analyzes all the implications of adding a foreign language-speaking state to the Union.

It would bring immediate demands for massive federal spending.  The average income of Puerto Ricans is less than half that of our poorest state, and infrastructure and the environment are far below American standards. Puerto Rico has a population with a median national income of $17,741, nearly a third of that for the U.S.

Puerto Rico is already a democracy.  Despite the bill’s deceptive title, Puerto Rico already has an elected government and exists as a self-governed commonwealth of the U.S.

A Latino-American is apprehended for not having his birth certificate.

I have no means to affirming this report; all I will say is “let the games begin.”

A former Fresno resident, driving his commercial truck in Arizona, “today,” was asked for his birth certificate by a local police officer.

He couldn’t produce his documentation, so he was arrested and taken to the local immigration department until his wife could produce his certificate.

It’s a good portion into this news report.

Watch the report at "Arizona's First Arrest is from Fresno."

The Arizona immigration law is weak and it will be struck down in the court of law.

If we really desire to delete the blemish of illegal immigration upon the script of America’s future, we must control our borders first – before we attempt anything else.

Every country must control its borders. It is what defines a country; it separates you from the guy who lives next door. For any absolute solution to be birthed surrounding illegal immigration, America must first – and foremost – secure her borders.

This is a federal government responsibility – alone.

There has been a huge shift in California (Western States) attitudes toward “illegal immigrants” since 1994. The reasons: we have active, younger voters who hold a much different ideology of America’s melting pot (California) than the older demographics, and we have a much larger number of active Latino voters in the mix.

Passing piece-meal laws that attempt to put the ‘toothpaste back into the tube’ are very messy – and they don’t work. Granted, Arizona may be successful in shaming the AWOL federal government’s lack of immigration responsibility but this radical (and it is a radical move) state law does not end illegal immigration for the country, or Arizona.

Eventually this law will be tossed aside by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals – if it keeps its life through the US Federal Courts system.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission launched an investigation into whether Hewlett-Packard paid bribes to win a computer contract with a unit of the Russian government.

The report stated that Russian investigators raided HP’s office in Russia for details surrounding a $10.9 million alleged bribe.

Over the weekend, according to Bloomberg News, HP stated that Carly Fiorina had no involvement in the investigation, as well as no connection to the knowledge of the possible crime.

That did not stop U.S. Senate opponent Tom Campbell from launching a new strategy against Fiorina today.

The announcement came via email, entitled “The Book on Carly.”

Carly Fiorina is touting her business record in her campaign for U.S. Senate — but what she’s telling voters is a work of fiction.

Instead, we’re starting a daily distribution, quoting from NON-FICTION books about Carly, which give telling insights into who she really is and why she failed in business.

Bound to be a bestseller — start turning the pages tomorrow.

Monday I had the opportunity to speak with Fiorina about the accusations and her perspective on Wall Street, business and the economy.

Governor Schwarzenegger seems to be auditionaing for Obama Czar Post.

There was a press conference at the Capitol Tuesday afternoon featuring the electric car called the Chevy Volt. The presser was held to simply promote the Chevrolet vehicle that allows the owner to travel all of 40-miles before it has to transition to being gas powered.

During the press conference the Governor decided that it would be expedient to make a statement about merits AB32 and the efforts of many to qualify a ballot initiative for November to gain voter support in placing ”California’s Global Warming Law” on moratorium until the state recovers from its severe unemployment numbers and economic virus.

Arnold's comments are very "interesting" in "Arnold Auditions for Obama Enviro Czar" and a bit sophomoric too.
